  • Define a business
  • Describe the four parts to the business management cycle
  • Identify the five Ps of every business
  • Describe the three core functional areas of every business
  • Apply at least one concept from each of the five Ps and three functional areas to the management of their business
  • Identify basic financial statements and their components
  • Calculate margin, mark-up, selling price, and break-even

This course has been approved for one hour of MN residential contractor and remodeler credit by the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry and is approved for the required business management credit. This course is also approved for one hour of WI Dwelling Contractor Qualifier CE by the Wisconsin Dept. of Safety & Professional Services.

Shawn is president of New Spaces, a residential design/build remodeler company. He is a lifetime member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and previously served as president of Housing First Minnesota. Shawn grew up working every kind of job at New Spaces with a first-hand look at remodeling and the difference it could make in a family’s life. He earned a B.A. from Valparaiso University in business and an MBA from the University of Saint Thomas – School of Business. His favorite tool is his computer.
